Kate and Adrian had shared over 12 years together before beginning their journey to grow their family. Having experienced several rounds of IVF in a previous relationship, Kate and Adrian decided that adoption would be the path meant for them.
They began their adoption journey in 2013 by attending an information session. But soon after, life threw them a devastating challenge — Kate was diagnosed with cancer.
With immense courage and resilience, Kate and Adrian faced this battle together and overcame it. Once Kate was well enough, they resumed their adoption journey and were approved adopters by Spring 2016.
Kate reflects, “The adoption process can feel long and overwhelming at times, but don’t let that put you off — because at the end, you have a family.
They chose the Foster for Adoption route, fully aware of the challenges it could bring. Later that year, their adoption was successfully completed, and their family began to grow.
Two years later, their social worker called with life-changing news — a sibling had been born. Kate and Adrian were ready to open their hearts and home again, keeping the brothers together.
We were so eager to adopt again, and that phone call came at just the right time. The bond between the boys is incredible, and we’re always open about their adoption story with them.
Then, in 2020, another unexpected call came from their social worker: “Are you sitting down?” A third sibling was on the way.
Taking on a third child was a bigger decision — but they knew their home had enough love and space for all three brothers. They understood how important it was to keep them together, knowing how deeply separation could affect their lives.
“We love them more and more every single day. Yes, the process can be daunting, but the reward — watching our boys grow, thrive, and become brothers — is more than worth it.”
